Arjay Stevens

He is bom in Bingen/Germany, photographed from very young age. He studied natural science and assisted Nobel Laureate Prof. Otto Warburg at Max-Planck-Institute in Berlin. Later he studied pharmacy and became head of a hospital's pharmacy department eventually. Berlin was his chosen city.

1970-while travelling to the indigenous Sioux in N-Dakota, USA - he semi-professionally photographed for the book ""Reise zum Sonnentanz"" (Joumey to the Sundance) by Peter Baumann, and published in German magazines and newspapers. Even being strongly engaged in his regular job, photographing was always a necessity during rare time. People and art all over the world are his special interest photo joumalistic and artistic especially since he travelled Southeast-Asia and China he became a professional photographer

Arjay Stevens is partly based in Cambodia. He self-published several photo books on art and culture. He had the privilege to show his work in numerous international exhibitions.

In 2016, his work ""A CENTURY ARTIST"" of Royal Ballet dance icon Em Theay, was shown at The National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh for three months.

Special honours of his art work in Cambodia learned Arjay Stevens by personal thank-you letters from both HM King Sihamoni and HM Queen Mother Norodom Monineath of Cambodia. His most important and challenging work of over 20 years he published in 2019: ""REAMKER-The Cambodian Ramayana - Gods Demons and Heroes""- showing for the first time the entire visible variations of the famous ancient story.

He developed his work into abstract photography as well - fascinating indeed. As an open minded individual his interests are wide spread. He is engaged in humanitarian matters especially in his host country. Arjay Stevens feels himself both as a democratic cosmopolitan based on his German cultural background and as a citizen of Europe.

In recognition of nearly three decades of dedication to Cambodia, in 2024 Arjay Stevens made several donations:
